01. let off on, to
定义: 减轻, 放松.
例句: Let off on the gas so that we do not exceed the speed limit. (放松油门, 这样子我们就不会超速. 注: 这里的the gas等于the accelerator pedal也就是油门踏板或加速器踏板)

02. let off the hook, to
定义: 放某人一马, 让某人逃掉责备或不喜欢的责任.
例句: I'll let you off the hook this time, but never again. (我这次放你一马, 但是没有下一次了)
