01. give something up as a bad job, to
定义: 放弃某件事因为你感到不值得继续下去.
例句: After three attempts to explain I lost my job I gave it up as a bad job. (经过三次试图解释我为什么失去我的工作之后, 我放弃了辩解)

02. give thanks for small blessings, to
定义: 对一个意料不到的幸运或小恩惠表示感激.
例句: My baggage didn't get on the plane but it did arrive in time. For that I give thanks for small blessings. (我的行李没赶上飞机但它却准时到达终站. 为此, 我对这个意外的幸运表示感恩)

03. give the appearance, to
定义: 看起来, 装出, 表面上显示.
例句: Tom often gives the appearance that he's smart, that's his best skill. He does have the mind of a con man. (汤姆经常装出他聪明伶俐的样子, 这是他最拿手的技巧. 他确实拥有骗子的思维方式)
